On February 20th, 2012 the Director-General of the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) Mrs. Irina Bokova will be paying an official visit to Bulgaria. The official visit is upon an invitation by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Nickolay Mladenov.
Mrs. Bokova will have official meetings with the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Rossen Plevneliev, with the Prime-minister Boyko Borissov and she will also meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Culture, as well as with the Mayor of Sofia Mrs. Jordanka Fandakova.
Mr. Jacques Rao – Director for the Relations with member states and with the international organizations will be a member of the official delegation of the Director-General.
Within the framework of her official visit Mrs. Bokova will officially open the Regional UNESCO Center for safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage in South-Eastern Europe.
This is the first official visit of Mrs. Irina Bokova in Bulgaria, since she undertook the post of Director-General for UNESCO.
