Press conference on the monitoring in Nessebar

To be held today at Ministry of Culture press conference on the occasion ended mission of experts from UNESCO in relation to the Old Nessebar, Deputy Culture Minister Todor Chobanov said that "Removal of Nessebar from the List of World Heritage by UNESCO has never been discussed .

The same was confirmed by Anna Sidorenko - member expert committee of UNESCO, which made several days of monitoring in Nessebar, program specialist at the Center for World Heritage of UNESCO. She noted that "Removal of Nessebar from the List of World Heritage of UNESCO is not on the agenda, but rather may be considered its inclusion in the list of endangered sites.

The press conference highlighted the experts' opinion that no irreversible damage caused in Nessebar as a world cultural monument. The second member of the expert committee - Professor Nur Akin, an expert of ICOMOS expressed the view that "Most importantly, the people in Nessebar be convinced of the correctness of the measures they take the state and municipality.

For its part, the mayor of Nessebar - Nikolai Dimitrov stressed that concrete measures are taken to meet the criteria the city of UNESCO, but also a museum town, for whatever is announced by government decree in 1956
