UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers 2017 Campaign
As part of the World Heritage Education Programme, UNESCO has started the World Heritage Volunteers 2017 Campaign. The volunteers will have the opportunity to get to know better and to work on a World Heritage site or a site inscribed on the Tentative List.
The work of the volunteers will be connected with basic preservation and conservation skills, exchanges with local communities, raising the public awareness of archaeological sites, etc. The volunteers programme is open to anyone willing to take part in such activities. Given the specific tasks and responsibilities of the volunteers, the current opportunity will be of special interest for students, young researchers and PhD candidates in the sphere of archaeology and related disciplines.
Bulgaria takes part with one project, the site “Frontiers of the Roman Empire – the Danube Limes in Bulgaria” inscribed on the Tentative List in 2016. The project is carried out by the Bulgarian Archaeological Association, with two partner institutions – Vidin Historical Museum and the Municipality of Dimovo. The organizers are looking for volunteers for the period August 12-26th, 2017. All candidates interested in joining the project are advised to contact directly the main organizer, the Bulgarian Archaeological Association, on the following e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
